aveline has lost so much.
she loses her father in denerim. he is sick. she could stay away — she has a job, duties, people to protect. he would understand. instead, she sits by his bedside every day and reads to him. she picks his favorite stories.
she loses her home during the blight. she could stay, could fight, could die in the home she and her husband made. but aveline wants to live. she has nothing but the clothes on her body and the weapons in her hands, and she does not look back.
she loses her husband on an unremarkable patch of dirt in ferelden. she could refuse to kill him. but she knows the power of choice, and wesley is choosing how he wants to die. so she looks into his eyes and tells him she loves him and drives a sword through his heart.
aveline has lost so much, and she carries her burdens on her strong shoulders. where others would shield their hearts from any more loss, aveline opens her heart again and again. she looks forward, and mourns, and chooses life.
